Profile
Ramona is best known for
her obvious extensive lifelong training in classical and more contemporary forms
of dance, that bring a distinct grace, originality and versatility to her career
in the ancient art of bellydance. Her studies alongside some of the “greats” of
North America, such as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Danny Grossman, Lynda Raino,
Constantine Darling, KIDCO, and more, have left a lasting imprint in her
stylized interpretation of more Classical bellydance styles, such as “Raqs
Sharqi” and “Cabaret” bellydance and more modern styles, such as the edgier
“Tribal Fusion” and “Techno/Club bellydance.” Ramona possesses formal degrees in
both theatre arts and humanities, and expresses herself soulfully and
dramatically, often “pushing the envelope” of traditional bellydance.
Ramona attributes
her honored success in bellydance to the influential instruction of great
artists such as Suhaila Salimpour, Ragia Hassan, Yousry Shariff, Yasmina Ramzy,
Sarita, Dalia Carella, Fat Chance Bellydance, Sharon Kihara, and others too
numerous to mention.
Today, Ramona
enjoys a busy performance career as she performs every week at 4 local
restaurants, themed Nightclub shows, stage performances, Festivals, and
specializing in extravagant ethnic weddings (Hotel Vancouver, Sheraton Wall
Centre, Empress Hotel, and other 5 Star Hotels). Ramona collaborates with
several local musicians for occasional shows, and tours with famed Master of the
Mediterranean guitar, Pavlo, and his ensemble.
She now contracts to
entertain on cruise ships and for themed vacation packages.
